From 4 to 6 May, Dolores Mosquera delivered the “3-Day EMDR Training Workshop” in Sydney, an international specialist training course aimed at mental health professionals interested in gaining a deeper understanding of the EMDR approach to complex trauma and dissociation.

Over the three days, the workshop covered advanced clinical content designed to provide practical tools for assessment, case conceptualisation and treatment planning in highly complex clinical contexts.

The first session focused on working with dissociative disorders and dissociative parts, addressing aspects such as exploring the internal system, structuring treatment plans, strengthening the “adult self”, and managing internal conflict and hostility in therapy.

The second day focused on intervention with victims of domestic violence from an EMDR perspective, delving into concepts such as learned helplessness, the traumatic bond, guilt, invalidation and emotional regulation in complex relational trauma.

The third day was devoted to addressing narcissistic manifestations, both overt and covert, exploring their developmental origins, attachment disturbances, and specific strategies to promote therapeutic engagement and the processing of early traumatic experiences.

This training provided an opportunity to share knowledge, clinical experience and evidence-based intervention strategies with professionals committed to the treatment of trauma and dissociation.

We would like to thank all attendees for their participation, involvement and commitment throughout these sessions, helping to create a space for learning and clinical reflection.
