Advanced EMDR training with Roger Solomon in Natick, Massachusetts

On 13 and 14 March, the advanced training course ‘Navigating Choice Points in EMDR Therapy – Insights from Experts’, led by Roger Solomon and Dolores Mosquera, took place in Natick (Massachusetts, USA).

3/14/2026

This meeting focused on exploring clinical decision-making within EMDR therapy, particularly when dealing with complex cases. Throughout the training, videos of clinical sessions with patients presenting complex trauma and dissociative symptoms were analysed, alongside live demonstrations and opportunities for clinical consultation.

The speakers addressed the difficulties that can arise during the reprocessing of traumatic experiences, highlighting the importance of adjusting the pace of the therapeutic process and prioritising stabilisation when necessary. Various clinical strategies were also explored, such as modifying bilateral stimulation, the use of grounding techniques, and working with personality parts.

  • During the sessions, key aspects were explored in depth, such as:

  • Decision-making between actively intervening or allowing the process to continue.

  • Managing blocks in reprocessing.

  • Working with emotional parts.

  • Stabilisation during moments of dysregulation.

  • Addressing attachment trauma and intense emotional experiences.

The training provided a space for reflection on therapeutic practice, facilitating the exchange of experiences and direct dialogue with the experts. It was aimed at professionals with prior training in EMDR who were interested in improving their skills in the treatment of complex trauma.
