On 9 April, the 10th Symposium on Borderline Personality Disorder 2026 was held in Terrassa (Barcelona). As part of this event, Dolores Mosquera led the workshop “Trauma and Dissociation: Keys to a Deeper Approach”, structured in two sessions, which opened the symposium programme.
During the workshop, an up-to-date perspective was offered on the complexity of Borderline Personality Disorder, focusing on the relationship between trauma and dissociation. It addressed how psychological defences are organised in response to traumatic experiences and how these mechanisms directly influence diagnosis, the development of the therapeutic alliance and the effectiveness of clinical interventions.
The workshop provided an opportunity to explore an approach that is increasingly prevalent in contemporary clinical practice, aimed at better understanding the uniqueness of each case and tailoring therapeutic strategies to the specific needs of each individual.
