Day 1 – Monday 4 May
Parts Work in EMDR Therapy: A Practical Guide
Clients with complex trauma often present with inner conflict, dissociative parts, and difficulties with trust, emotion regulation, and session structure. This training offers practical tools and strategies to help therapists structure effective treatment plans and navigate the challenges of working with parts of the memory system.
You’ll learn how to explore the internal system, identify dissociative patterns, and develop the client’s Adult Self to increase therapeutic stability. Emphasis is placed on managing distrust, hostility, and conflicting internal voices, with real clinical examples and session tools.
Key Topics:
Key concepts in working with dissociative disorders and parts
How to structure a treatment plan and organise sessions
Guided questions and variations to explore internal systems
Strengthening the Adult Self – one piece at a time
Case conceptualisation tools for working with dissociative parts
Strategies for managing inner conflict and hostility in therapy

Improve collaboration and cooperation
Day 2 – Tuesday 5 May
Working with Victims of Domestic Violence: EMDR Strategies for Complex Relational Trauma
Many survivors of domestic violence remain stuck in dangerous relationships or repeat harmful relational patterns. This training provides a comprehensive EMDR-informed approach to understanding learned helplessness, trauma bonding, idealisation of the perpetrator, and internalised responsibility.
You’ll explore how to assess ambivalence, support emotional regulation, and select targets for reprocessing from both early developmental experiences and current abusive dynamics.
Key Topics:
Psychoeducation on abuse dynamics and perpetrator strategies
Learned helplessness, guilt, and invalidation
Trauma bonding and attachment to the perpetrator
Defensive emotional regulation and blocking emotions
Target selection: early experiences, past relationships, and current patterns
Working with dysfunctional positive affect and idealised memories
Learning Objectives:
Differentiate responsibility from vulnerability in victims
Use psychoeducation to support insight, build adaptive information and safety planning
Identify common defences and emotional regulation strategies
Apply the “Best Moments” procedure to work with idealisation
Develop tailored EMDR treatment plans that address ambivalence, guilt, and trauma bonds
Day 3 – Wednesday 6 May
Understanding and Treating Narcissism with EMDR
Narcissistic presentations are diverse and often misunderstood, ranging from grandiose and entitled behaviours to shame-sensitive, anxious, and withdrawn traits. This training explores the full spectrum of narcissism and provides targeted EMDR strategies for both overt and covert presentations.
You’ll learn how narcissistic traits can arise from chronic neglect, abuse, or excessive praise, and how to track these developmental pathways to support case formulation and therapeutic engagement. Techniques will be explored for every phase of EMDR, with practical strategies for managing relational challenges and emotional activation.
Key Topics:
• The full spectrum: overt and covert narcissism
• Developmental origins: neglect, trauma, and excessive praise
• Attachment disruptions and emotional regulation strategies
• Navigating the therapeutic relationship and countertransference
• Target selection: trauma history and dysfunctional positive affect
Learning Objectives:
• Recognise both overt and covert narcissistic presentations
• Understand defensive mechanisms and shame-based responses
• Apply tailored strategies for EMDR Phases 3-7
• Identify early relational trauma contributing to narcissistic traits
• Strengthen therapeutic engagement with narcissistic clients
